In August 2026, about 140 Danes travelled to Spain hoping to witness the total solar eclipse on August 12th. The trip was arranged by Viktors Farmor in Denmark.
We saw the eclipse from a field some 7 km Northwest of Soria on the position 41.8072°N, 2.5422°W.
The weather was absolutely perfect. We arrived about 1 hour before first contact (C1), and we saw the entire eclipse until sunset. The sun was still partially eclipsed when it set.
The corona, which is normally white, was reddish. The sun was only 7° above the horizon, so it is reasonable to believe that the reddish color was due to the sun's low altitude. But I have seen solar eclipses before where the sun was low in the sky without the corona being that red. I think the red color is most likely due to smoke from wildfires.

It was my tenth total solar eclipse, and the eighth successful one. But a total solar eclipse is an awesome experience, still worth travelling to see.
